For more than 30 years the Family Festival, held during the second week in August, has been a part of Doonbeg's rich tradition. Young and old, visitor and local, enjoy the fun and entertainment this event provides.  Some of the activities include a cultural parade, barbeque, talent contest, children's fancy dress competition and the once seen, never forgotten, donkey derby.

As with all local events,  lots of people lend all sorts of support to make these festivals a success.  On a sunny August day, after a swim in the glorious White Strand, nothing tastes better than a hot, juicy burger and a cold beverage, served up by Francie Killeen, the Festival Chairperson and barbeque'r extraordinaire.
