This is the third year of Traditional currach racing in Doonbeg Bay. Currach racing returned to Doonbeg after an absence of almost 20 years. Last year proved very successful. We had seven races in all. There were open, confined, ladies and naomhog races.  Large numbers of people gathered to watch teams of rowers compete. The competitors travelled from all along the West Coast to show their skill in the use of these old sea-fishing boats. A presentation of trophies and prizes took place after the festival.
