The White Strand
The White Strand, Killard is a popular and very safe sandy beach for swimming. It faces towards the northeast and is therefore sheltered from the prevailing winds. The sandy beach, which slopes gently to low water, is flanked on either side by low rocky cliffs and these provide additional shelter to the strand. The view from the White Strand looks across to the sand dunes at Doughmore Beach.
The beach holds Blue Flag status, achieving EU high standards of safety and cleanliness and is monitored by lifeguards at weekends during the month of June, and from 11am – 7pm every day during July & August
The Irish Water Safety’s swimming and lifesaving classes take place at the White Strand in August.
